The controller only talks to one company's laptop, the diagnostics only open with one company's software, and the building owner finds out years later that they have exactly one option for service and one price to accept. We install non-proprietary equipment wherever the job allows it. That means the controller, the tools, and the documentation stay open to any qualified contractor, including the next one you hire. It costs us leverage. We think that's the point. The rest follows from there.
